Research tells us that “the human brain develops more rapidly between birth and age five than during any other subsequent period. The preschool years are the time in which the brain begins to maximize efficiency by determining which connections to keep and which to eliminate.” The preschool program you choose will have a greater impact on your child's life and success than the college they pick!
Thank you for this opportunity to provide you with some information about the multi-age preschool program at My Friends Christian Child Care. The preschool morning is from 9:00-12:00 during the school year (September-May) for children ages 3-5.
You are probably well aware that there is a very wide variety of child care and early learning options available. Quality in any field is directly related to the level of dedication, training, experience and skill development of the professionals. As a Minnesota State Licensed teacher (PreK and K-6), having a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and teaching child development classes at the college level, you can be assured that your child will receive the highest quality preschool education and experience from me at My Friends CCC.
After a number of years teaching and administrating kindergarten and traditional age-specific preschool classes of three year olds and of four year olds I became a mother and left the classroom for family child care. I saw firsthand how much more the children learned in a specifically designed mixed age setting. My children went to school and I returned to the classroom, finished my graduate work, created and received approval for a developmentally appropriate multi-age preschool curriculum for 3-5 year old children.
Multi-age environments can provide young children with a deeper, richer and more effective learning program than is typically possible in a single-age class. Click here for a listing of some of the benefits of multi-age preschool.
As an early childhood educator, My Friends CCC allows me to provide a program that I know is one of the best available to young children based on what we know about how young children learn, develop and thrive. The quality of the curriculum, teacher-child relationships and continuity, parent input and involvement, eight-ten preschoolers as a maximum group size and dedicated parents are just some of the advantages for your child at My Friends Preschool.
I invite you to schedule a visit to observe our preschool day, talk with me, teacher aides, assistant teachers and parents that are familiar with the program. Also, do research on your own. The more you know and understand, the more you'll value and appreciate preschool at My Friends!!
